HEALTH / COMMUNITY

Medical Centre, Sheil Park, Liverpool

Sheil Park Medical Centre forms the focal point of a major estate regeneration of over 200 houses and provides a replacement for the outdated existing health facilities on the site.

The fair faced blockwork, and natural red sandstone, generic to the area, contrast with the polished aluminium roof. The building provides both health centre facilities and a separate doctor’s surgery serving the local community.

The design, commissioned by the Liverpool Housing Action Trust for North Merseyside Community Trust, incorporates large areas of glazing to the public areas and yet maintains privacy to the consulting and treatment rooms by the use of horizontal slit windows with opaque glazing.
