Summerfield Street, Sheffield

Despite the recent challenging weather, work is now well underway at Summerfield Street, Sheffield. The site is situated close to Ecclesall Road, just a short walk from the city centre. The scheme is funded by Grainger plc, the UK’s largest listed landlord with Phase 1 alone representing an investment of £23.5m. It comprises 237 apartments, A1/A3 retail space, gym and undercroft car parking.
Acanthus WSM are delighted to be working with Winvic Construction Ltd, who are the main contractors. Pile foundations are currently being installed and our team are collaborating closely with Winvic and the rest of the design team to finalise the steel frame of this eight storey building to meet a demanding programme.
London Road, Leicester

We are delighted to see the completion of this flagship student accommodation development at London Road, Leicester adjacent to the Leicester City train station, providing 132 Student bedspaces, high quality communal areas and ground floor retail space. The enhanced interior specification and various accommodation types offer flexible living arrangements to cater for a wide market, particularly overseas students, whilst the contemporary design approach enhances the streetscape in this prominent city centre location.
Totley Primary School, Sheffield

Acanthus WSM Architects are delighted to have been selected by Engie to work on a major expansion programme of this popular Primary School in Totley, Sheffield. The proposals include two separate build elements and provides an additional 810 sqm of space. The completed development will result in six new classrooms, staffroom, library and media / science rooms, along with associated WC’s and cloakrooms. Construction is due to start on site with a Structural Insulated Panel construction system being selected for the main building frame. This will be manufactured offsite. The method of construction needed to meet an ambitious delivery programme allowing completion before September 2018 and the start of the new autumn term.
