The schools original music department was located in a single storey brick building housing practice rooms, offices and a large music room, linked by a series of winding corridors. Little additional amenity space was provided or any obvious main entrance.

 

We created a new entrance foyer/break-out space within the courtyard of the existing music department. The contemporary design reflects the aesthetic of the more recent additions to the campus. The modern glass fronted lobby was specifically designed to be light and open-plan in contrast to the cellular nature of the existing building. This space makes a perfect location for the schools Grand Piano and a focal point for students to congregate.
