ACANTHUS WSM ARCHITECTS
NEWS
Yorkshire Housing Framework
In 1987, when the practice first opened it’s doors from a small office on the edge of Bradford, Yorkshire Metropolitan Housing became one of our very first clients.
Following their merger with Ryedale Housing Association in 1999 to form Yorkshire Housing Group, they have remained one of our key clients for the last 35 years.
Acanthus WSM have designed dozens of successful projects and many hundreds of homes throughout the region for them. We were therefore particularly pleased to have been selected to remain on their framework of preferred architects for the next 4 years.
The Acanthus WSM team look forward to providing continued support and assisting Yorkshire Housing with the successful delivery of new schemes across a variety of tenures.
Middlecross, Armley
Following an extensive selection procedure, Leeds City Council have appointed EQUANS to deliver a new extra care scheme on the site of the former Middlecross Day Centre in Armley, Leeds.
Acanthus WSM worked closely with EQUANS throughout the bid process preparing detailed masterplan proposals. We are providing a full architectural service designing a bespoke, development comprising over 60no. 1 and 2 bedroom apartments, restaurant and salon. Residents will have access to onsite care with staff offering a range of support.
Designs are at concept stage but following public consultation a planning application will be submitted later this year.
Sylvester Street, Sheffield
It`s great to see the first 1300 tonnes of steelwork erected at Sylvester Street, Sheffield. This 13 storey development, in a prominent location near the city centre, consists of 335 luxury PRS apartments, gymnasium, external roof gardens together with ground floor commercial space.
It`s been a busy six months to reach this exciting milestone and we are looking forward to working closely with Winvic Construction to progress this project at speed in the New Year.
